Nice general news coverage. Ashley, the great pictures which I call "home runs" meaning portfolio shots are far and few between. A typical newspaper staff photographer will shoot 700 assignments a year. At the end of the year if you have 12 "home runs" you had a fairly good year. If you have 20 your a POY candidate! The typical average for community photojournalist is more like 6 or 7.

This is a career lazed with disappointments. I think we are hard on ourselves because it makes you work harder but remember it's a "marathon" not a sprint. Pace yourself, think on your feet, be prepared and wonderful things will eventually present themselves to you. It's all about sustainability and attitude. You're doing fine!

Ashley- I thank god in the heavens every day that you were my first editor. Every time I think about leaving an assignment early, I think of your voice in my head, saying "What's that? Ugh. You have anything else?" haha. I love your work, as always.

I love the one of the old man on the black background, I know it was probably one of the easier ones, but the expression is great. Your composition is primo.
